Carclew, supported by CreateSA

CreateSA provided funding to Carclew in 2025–26 to expand and strengthen grant support for young artists and youth arts organisations across South Australia. The investment supports higher‑value capacity‑building grants for organisations, alongside new and expanded opportunities for emerging artists, with a strong focus on equity and access.

With funding delivered through the state cultural policy A Place to Create, Carclew broadened its support for youth arts organisations across metropolitan, regional and remote South Australia. This included increased investment in existing Project and Development Grants for Organisations and Capacity Building categories, strengthening sector infrastructure, governance and creative delivery.

In addition, Carclew introduced new quick response grants for individual young artists from First Nations, regional, remote and other underrepresented communities. These grants, capped at $750, enable timely access to travel, training and performance opportunities, supporting young creatives to respond quickly to professional and creative development opportunities.

This expanded funding model allows Carclew to respond more flexibly to sector need, while enabling young people across the state to access meaningful creative opportunities regardless of location or background.

Why this matters

This investment strengthens pathways for young people to develop their creativity, cultural knowledge and professional skills. By expanding grant access, increasing funding levels and introducing a more agile support option, Carclew is able to reach more young creatives and youth arts organisations than ever before.

The funding also increases access to the arts for young people who may otherwise face barriers to participation. By prioritising regional, remote and underrepresented communities, the program supports more equitable creative opportunities and enables young people can participate as artists, learners and audiences.

This investment meaningfully increases young people’s access to the arts across South Australia. It removes barriers, opens doors to opportunity and supports young people to build sustainable creative futures.
